of the West by meaus of establishing
reservoirs for irrigatioa purposes held
a meeting to-day at the Chamber of
Commerce.
A nuinoer of prominent people
were present who thoroughly under
stand this question and the benefits
to be derived from ic. Among these
were Senator Toiler and Governor
Cooper.
The testimony taken from those
best informed wai to the effect that
the entire Eastern portion of the
state could be irrigated by the reser
voir system, and hundreds of thous
ands of acres-of laud dow worthless
be converted into the best agricul
tural land on the continent; that the
storage system was undoubtedly the
most practical; and that it one-half of
the water which went to waste every
year was stored there would be more
than stitiicient to reclaim every acre
of laud in the stv.c.
