to have been established along the
Missouri rir. Different patties

horses a hundred miles away from

Trouble.

looked very threatening Sunday,
but are believed to have temporaiily
quieted down now. The Mormcns

party grows more indignant at

ever, the elders have hidden under
tear of tar and leathers.
In preaching to one of the con

by force if necessary, and would

One sympathizer to whom this
was spoken became alarmed at the
excitement in the community and
repeattd the elder's words. . There
upon Rev. John Barrett instituted
a "Peter the Hermit" crusade
against the Mormons, whe had suc
ceeded in proselyting some of his
flock. He nreached Sunday at
Friendship to a crowd.
He iiad a letter trom a ladv in
Kentucky, who had ioined the
Mormons, gone to Utah and had
seen their practices, kibe became
disgusted, apostatized returned te
her heme and has the courage to
tell the truth. She denounces the
system r.s deceptive and rotten,
and the priests and many laymen
as a lot of scoundrels. Beajamin
Bright, who was an active par
ticipant in the former Morwon
revival, asserts that the elders de
ceived him and herceforth he is an
'American and not a Mormon."
The people are determined to
drive the Mormon e'ders from this
part of the country.
