A mis take, however, is made by the Statesman when it says the Salem and Albany engines are the same size. The Salem engine is a ;5d class while Albany's is a 4th class engine, and in tournament rules a. handicap of 50 feet is given be tween such engines. As no handi cap was given the contest was not for the $100 prize, being merely a friendly contest, which Salem won , by :;0 feet. Their's is perhaps the ' finest engine in Oregon.
