to American farmer-. In the first
place, it is shown that, in spite of
the popular impression to the con
trary, Europe grows almost wheat
enough to feed herself without
drawing on the stock of the United
State or uny other foreign country.
Europe raise 1,200,00,000 bushels
' yearly and imports 144,000,003
bushels, of which only 95,000,000
busueN come from the United
States. Eu. ope raises more po'a.
toes than .she needs. Of Indian

each grows more than twice as
much as the entire product which

grows about as much tobacco as

240,000,000 pounds of American
tobacco are a tmually imported. I n
the matter of wool, Earope raises

America, Asia, Africa, and Austra

products our exports of which the
de partment thinks can be materi

find a wider market if it improved
in quality. As it is, it is to ho
feared that our dealers think
