THE CENTENNIAL CELKIJ RATION.
Washixoton, April 19.--According
to the present arrangement for
the centennial celebration the
presidential train will leave Wash
ington early Monday morning,
bearing the president, cabinet and
their families. Arriving at Eliza
beth, N. J., they will be met by
Governor Keen, of New Jersey.
The party will then proceed to
Elizabeth" port, where they will
take a. boat for New York City,
landing at the wharf where Wash
ington stepped ashore. The party
will then proceed to the city hall
ami lis'en to an oration to be de
livered by Chauncey Depew.

war department is in receipt daily
of requisitions for ordnance and
quartermaster stores for equipment
of the militia under the annual
appropriation of $400,009. In the
territories particularly there are
signs of activity among the militia.
The old organizations are gradually
changing their equipment to con
form to the regular army. It is
thought there will be fully 50,000
militiamen in New York on the
occasion of the centennial celebra
