Ad vices have been received from Bramwell, W Va., of the killing of Bill Moran, an out law who had been terrorizing Bram well county, Va., for a year pa. Two weeks ago he raidei the railroad station at Falls Mills, and the rail road people determined to put an end to his outlawry. Detective Baldwin swore out a warrant for Moran, and, accompaned by Detectives Wallace and Robinson, located their man in a house in Tazewell county, a. Early in the morning they went to the house, and Baldwin at once sprang into the room. Seeing a man he supposed to be Moran in bed he called to him to surrender. Just then Moran appeared at the door of another room aud fired two shots at Baldwin,, one passing through his coat and the other striking him in the arm, near the wrist. By this time Wallace and Robin son were in the house, and the firing became general. Wallace went down with one shot in the mouth and two in the right fm. Baldwin caught another bullet in his wounded arm, and Robinson bred two shots at the outlaw when the pistol wu knocked from his hand by a ballet which cut off one of his fingers. A woman in the house also tired five shots at Moran and then faiuted. Mor.m shot all his cartridges from uis two revolver and then fell. He died in two minutes, aud when ex amiued twelve wouuds were found ou him, six living in his body. The three detectives reteived cibt halls. Wallace li lying at the point of death and Baldwin is in a serious condition. Moran never rpoke after the tinug bewail. There is general satisfaction at his death. A KEVT ADMIION feCUKME. To Join the Americanised Districts r New Mexico and Arizona Chicago. April 9. Intelligence of a new movement in New Mexico in the interest .' statehood is brought by H. M. Glasgow, editor of the Siena County Advocate, who is in this city. He says that New Mexico would have been made a state this winter had it not been for . the influence of the Mexicans. The old dou element of the Mexican race is as active iu its supremacy in New Mexico as it ever was in old Mexico. No legislation is effected in the territory that is not agreeable to the high class Mexicans. They dominate the country like feudal lords. "Recognising this and the fact that it can never be otherwise." sai l Glas gow, "we want to separate ourselves irom them." When asked how thi6 could he ac complished, he said: The Mexican and Iudian population are fouud almost altogether in the northern and eastern portion of the territory, while the English-speaking people all live in the southwest portion. Two weeks ago representatives from the bye counties most largely American met at Las Cruets, and appointed a committee to canvass the district and influence the people in favor of a di vision, To these counties they pro pose to add Graham and Cochise couutiesof Eastern Arizona. Seven counties together with a population of 95,000, almost exclusively what may be denominated Amcricin. "The committee," said Glasgow, "has urged tiie people unanimously iu favor of a division. By this m-jans the Americans will leave the other elements a f:iir-s.cd territory that they can make a state of when they are ready ior it." "Rut will Arizona consent to losing a part of her territory?" was asked. "The people in the two counties named are quite willing, aud the western poni ui of the ttrsitory will be left to add to Lower California wheu it t-hall become desirable to make a state of that country. We foei reasonably confident of success if we can evci u;t the (juesimu before conurers in the right spape." Little Jokes. Are not doc'.ors' lees ill- gotten b u - . i - i ' ii i e.
