Conductor James Kennedy of the passenger was instantly killed. James -McCoy, tireinen, and Pat rick Riley, hrakeman, were fatally injured. Albert Lindsay, an en gineer, was badly hurt. Both en gines and ten cars were wrecked. THE M;iK TKLsT. The Case of the People Against (be Ui Mis Monopoly, New YoiiK, Dec. 5. The case of the people against the Isorth River bugar Refinery Company was continued this morning. Jas. C. Caiter, council for the defense, continued his argument. He said the combination ot the sugar re fining companies was not intended as a monopoly for the manufacture of sugar, nor was it for the purpose of increasing tiie juice ot sugar. Sugar, lie said, was a commodity limited only by in?bilit' to manu facture raw material, which is un limited in supply, and all that was required for its manufacture was capital and labor. There were other commodities that were by nature restricted in supply, and a combination to control the supply for the purpose of increasing the value might come under a charge of violation of the law. .Sugar is not a necessity of life, although bought much by people all over the globe, it might be nearly so considered. President Lucas, of the First National Bank, of Columbus, Indiana, who was recently robbed of a large amount of money by William Schruber, his book-keeper, is in the city in search of some of the plunter. Lucas came from Windsor, Ontaiio, where he made a settlement with Jjchruder and secured a memo randum of the places where he dis posed of his ill-gotten gains,- ' " tschruder arrived in this city Fri day and placed .$1 89,000 in securi ties in the Merchant's Exchange Bank, lie then went to Wauksha, Windor, and placed $4500 in the Wauksha National bank, .after which he skipped to Caaada. President Lucas secured the Wauk sha money yesterday, and this morning the Slerchant's Exchange bank delivered over the bulk of the plunder. The vote of Virginia is not necessary, but it it belongs to the Republicans he desires that tbey should have it. That's all there is about it,and good citizens everywhere should give him their moral support in his effoits to secure au honest count of the vote cast in Virginia.
