At the instance of Judge Whitney, who was de feated lor the office of conntv iude.r last June, a little partv oi demo-j crats, consisting of T. J. Stites.ed- itrf tI;,,,., w i,;!,.,.,, !ge Whitnev, together with S'aeklr.rn. met in th, 1 and Judge iudtre count v court room vesterdav morn-1 ing and instituted an election count of Iheirown. They deserve credit, perhaps, for permitting Mr. Plack ;.urn to be present. They pro ceeded to take the ballots from the clerk anil after unsealing them, en tered upon a count of the same, which has not yet been concluded, nor 4 Iocs it mutter materially whether it is ever completed or not, as such a proceeding is both unwarranted and is much more liable to be incorrect than the legal count aireadv mi'de. It ought to be remembered that no man owns this oiiice of counU judge. The people of Lh.n county have expressed their will as to who shall fill it; the precinct judges and clerks, legally appointed for th-i purpose, have counted the vote, which has been finally can vassed by a legally constituted board, and a certificate of election has been issued to Mr. Blackburn. This cannot be reversed now by any method of arbitration, even if Mr. Bhiekourn was willing to be bound by this count, which he is not. r This proceeding, however, can not rightfully be called a count. It is nothing more than boy?s piay as such monkeying with the ballots can decide nothing. By what authority the ballots have been taken out of the clerk's hands, un sealed and carried oil' to in; counted by oresi'iers remains to be ex plained. The voters of the count) will certainly not submit to anv such irri-tiularitie- Besides there 'biij.
