THE VOltVIW KKT?AT,TWEimEST) V. MAT :iO. 1SSS. , REPUBLICAN PLATTLi- jS. We, your committee on Platfor aud Resolutions beg leave to repur as follows: The Republicans in the State of Oregon, in convention assembled, re alr ruling their allegiance to, and "con fidence in, the great Republican iarty, of the nation, oi whose erand achievements ami long and success ful administration of the government tif the United Strtea they have so much cause to be proud, and the j.lory of which they are entitled to bhow, now make and present the fol Lsvvibi: statement of their principles and policy : j First W'e favor honest and efii- ' 'jistiu administration oi the depart ments of "overument both ?-t:Ue and Natioiiil. Soo.mit 1 he ni'lit ot tiie citizen i SiULhori-jd by law, and to have his vote loiioiaIdy counted, oulit to be respected and ali ellorts t j control i r limit that right deserves the con damnation of all good citizeus. Third That while disclaimin right to interfere with the adminis tration of the internal affairs of for eign nations, we sincerely approve the efforts of Irish and English st&tesmeii to secure by peaceful methods the American principal of 'Home Rule" for Ireland. Fourth That We are in favor of cuoh legislation as should prohibit iiud pusish the manufacture of adul terated foods. Fifth That we are in favcr of the enactment of a law by Coiurress, vheieby the homestead and pre-emption rghts of settlers shall not be forfeited by cancellation of filings by the land department when settlement or tilings arj made in good faith. isixtii That we f ivor the encour agement and development of our State by the construction of railroads and other systems of transportation uul that we hold all corporations to he strictly responsible to their liabil ities under the law, and recognize the ' right of the Legislature to enact all ! reasonable limitations on corporate power. Seventh That we regard the further immigration into the United States of Chinese laborers as directly opposed to the interests of American j labor; and we therefore heartily ap- j prove the action of the Republican Senate iu providing by proper legis-1 ation for so amending our treaties j with China as; to prevent their fur- ! ther immigration here. ; Eighth W e recognize that the j nation owes a dclt to the surviving veterans of the rebellion which can j not be adequately repaid, and hold-to I to be the duty of the general govern- j ment to provide for the necessities of j them and theirs by prompt payment j of liberal pensions. ! XinMi That the action of Presi i plorethe refusal of President CIev land to approve the river and harbo bill, and we denounce the action n the Sec etary of War in what seem i to be a Studied attemut to delay tin improyement of the Columbia river: and fully recognizing the imoortan of our reat waterways as regulators oi freight charges, not only on tlu waterways themselves but on the railroads as well, we insist; that out great rivers should be free and open to the sea, and fcwe demand of the general government need of appro priations therefor. At the samt time ;ve recommend the uext Legis lature to take proper and adequate steps to insist at once in opening the great river to general commerce. Lastly v e denounce the civil service reform professions of Presi dent Clevelaad as a sham and fraud, .'is promises made to secure votes be lore election, and the violations oi which has been as constant as the hunger of the. Democratic oilice-seek-ers could demand. j excellence dent Cleveland in ordering t!i: return i of the rebel flags was au unwarranted assumption of the right to Hise tor political purposes the trophie of a valor he did not possess and the fruits of a victory he did not help to secure. i Tenth While we approve' every honest effort to preserve our public lands by the puuishment of. 'willful trespasses upon them, aud ire in fayor of such measures as wall en courage our citizens to settlu upon aiu improve them, we condemn, the action of the present administration in its preteuued cJIorts to, urotect such Ianus ii. i.lr color of w'hich, in- stead of pursuing the policy of the j Republican administration by caus- j iug the arrest and punishment of j those only whose actions zppeared to j ne been dishonest and criminal. It j j.as refused to cause said lauds to be i surveyed, thereby discouraging their THE MARKETS. Tiik wheat market still has a buoyant tone, the price remaining at 622 and 05 cents. The general tone of the market as regards most of the staples is one of unrelieved dullness. The backwardness of the season im poses a check upon distribution of goods in all departments of trade which depend upon weather con ditions. The dullness w hich pre vails, however, is not of a kind to occasion uneasiness ; although the movement of commodities is slug gish, the underlying conditions are healthful, and when business is relieved of the impediments which j temporarily restrict it, it -will flow j perhaps in fuller volume than for months before. j ALBANY QUOTATIONS. j Wheat ttZb'i'f) , Oats tttyi-ioe.
