This evening at 7 :.'() o'clock the j Albany lire department will give a 1 parade and uniform drill. The I procession will form at No. l'sj hall, and headed bv the band will i march to No. 2' s where they will receive the members of that com pany and the hose and tender teams. The order of inarch will then be as follows: Down Lyon to First, up First to Washington, up Washington to Fourth, down fourth to Ferry, down Ferry to First, where the hose team will give an exhibition tun of the speed race of 700 feet as will be contested at the state tournament. The starting point will be near S. E. Young's new building and the outcome near Deyoe & Robson's hardware store, in this race the boys will wear their new plush uniforms which cost about $150. THE UNIFORM. The exertions of the boys to havehe Albanv department pre sent a creditable apjearanee at the j tournament have been very expen sive, and to assist in defraying these expense the excursion to Salem will be given to-morrow. Let every one who can attend and make the occasion a pleasant and profitable one. The fast steamer Wm Hoag, gaily decorated, will leave the O. P. wharf at 7 o'clock a.m., anil returning wm leave Salem at 4, thus arriving home at a pleasant hour in the evening. Over 125 tickets have already been sold, and after 10 a. m. to-day they can onlv be purchased at Black- man's drug store, and persons hold ing tickets will be first accommo dated, as tue number is limited. Guuderson, who had an examination before Justice Bush wiler in Portland for prescribing morphine without having register ed with the county clerk, as re quired by an act of the legislature of 1S87, was discharged. The prin- I ciyal point argued wa- on what constitutes morphine, and the dis- j seitations ot the counsel and court upon medical practice furnished the physicians with a lot of valua ble information. As this case is the til st one under the new law it has attracted considerable atten- tion among physicians. As before stated, i undersoil administered a verv small amount of a preparation j ot morphine in a perscription in a 1 serious case of gastric fever. ' Resolved, That our thanks are due and are hereby tendered to the O. & C. and the O. P. and the Nar row Gauge lines for their generosi ty in furnishing reduced rates of transportation. Resolved, That this convention earnestly recommends that the va rious Sunday schools of our state inculcate the most thorough teach ing furnished by the scriptures and by human experience, to enlighten and arouse the conscience of the rising generation against the terri ble effects of intemperance.
