I rmt m PI 1 me Waweri Aim me www dun iwm owro The present political campaign is the most important the country has had for many years. It is pn posed to make a radical change in the policy of the government wh(ich has been one of the funds- nufntal principles hmce n. fo.i n.ied that of protection for A ericm tudnsti ies and labor. Tue principal products of Oregon, as'.ie from grain, are wool, lumber and fruits. It is proposed to place w,.ol on the free list along with lumber and a few other mintr products. This is a demand that the farmers' products shall be cheapened, while the tariff on manufactured woolen goods, sugar, and the articles the farmer has to buy is retained, making the price of the merchandise he consumes the same as before, and changing the condition of things in no way except the farmer receives a smaller price for his product. The statement of stump orators that free trade on wool will not cheapen its price is without foun- vtim, In fact it is noticeaoie that the agitation of this question has already caused a heavy drop j in the wool market, and it is Rev. Bukchard's objectional al literation of four yeays ago, "rum, Romanism and rebellion," ougl t to be changed this year to "reform, re-nomination and rats!" dedicated respectfully to Grover Cleveland. Mr. Geo. Davis for county clerk, and Mr. O. S. May for recorder, will make a strong team. 10. 15. and 25 cent counters 110 each of which everv article is sold at the figures named.
