B.PQELICA1 FLATFOEM We. your committee on Platform and He .oluti ons beg leave to report as fellows: The liepublicans in the State oi Oregon, ia convention assembled, re afiinning their allegiance to, and con tid.nce in, the great Republican iarty, of the nation, of whose grand fi enlevements an 'I long and success ful administration of the government of the United Stites they hae Bo much cause to be proud, and the $ lory of which they are entitled to fhow, ii i make and present the fol Jowiriff statemeut of their principles and policy: First VV'e favor honest and effi ciert administration of the depart ments nt government both State and National. , Second The right of the eitizeri authorized bv law, and -to have his vote honorably counted, ought to be respected and all efforts to control r limit that right deserves tl e con del. -nation of all grod citizens. Third That while disclaiming the right to interfere with the adminis tration of the internal affairs of for i:h nations, we sincerely annrove the efforts of Irish and English statesmen to secure by peaceful methods the American principal of "Home Rule" lor Ireland. Fourth That we are in favor o: mi oh legislation as should prohibit And pur.ish the manufacture of adul terated foods. Fifth That we are in farer 5f the enactment of a law by Congress, vheieby the homestead aud pre-emption r-ghts of settlers shall not be forfeited by cancellation of filings by the land department when settlement or filings are made in good faith. Sixth That we f xvor the encour agement and development of our Sate by the construction of railroads and other systems of transportation rnd that we hold all corporations to be strictly responsible to their liabil ities under the law, and recognize the right of the Legislature to enact all reasonable limitations on corporate power. Seventh That we. regard the further immigration into the United States of Chinese laborers as directly opposed to the interests of American labor; and wo therefore heartily ap prove the action of the Republican Senate in providing by proper legis lation for no amending our treaties , with China as to prevent their fur ther immigration here. Kighth We recognize that the nation owns a debt to the surviving v-ierins- the rebellion which can not be adequately repaid, and hold-to to be the duty of the general govern ment t- provide for the necessities of them and theirs by prompt payment f hbeial pensions. Ninh That the action of Presi dent Cleveland in ordering the return tvf the rebel flags was an unwarranted assumption of th? right to use lor political purpose t!:e trophies of a valor he did not pussesa and the iruicspi a ictui v he tiul not help to secure.
