About two years ago a family ha.u a pleasant home on the Skagit river in Washington territory. In the family was a daughter named Flora, a bright miss of some 10 summers. About that time 1-lora began to show alarming symptoms of a disease that was not unlike dropsy and in a short time she died. At her death her weight was computed at 100 pounds and the post mortem examination re- kK.u uit! i;ict that sue Ulna oi an accumulation of fatty matter around the heait. She was buried in an ordinary manner and in the silent grave the body lay lor a ong time. Desiring to change their resi dence, the family concluded to move to this country and secure a place at the forks, ol the ruyaliup and Carbon rivers, to which their goods were removed. Wishing to take along with them the remains of their beloved one, who was con signed to her sepulchre one year and seven months before, the graye was opened and the coffin lilted. Wlnie engaged in this it- was noticed that instead of being lit, as it was supposed it would be, it was, if anything, heavier. An investigation was decided upon, un opening tne lid oi tne collin it was found that the form and features of the child were as clear and well defined as they were on their burial, save that they were turned to stone. Even the hair that in life fell in golden ringlets about the neck of the little girl was apparently as fresh and glossv in death as ever, lhe spectators were thui derstruck. The lid was placed on the coffin, and the sor rowing parents took up their way to their present home, w here ever bince last November thev have re sided. This account is vouched for by a gentleman of undoubted veracitv, who lias lately neen amo lg the people of this neighbor hood wheie the parents now reside, and lie heard the story from trie lit -of those who had lain eyes upon this strange iivak of nature and which will some day serve as s .-tutiite. not madH with hands, save the hands of God.
