He has Paid for All His Oregon Pacific Work and Deserves Much Credit. Mr. (7. W. Hunt, the well known railroad contractor, left yesterday to engage in work on his Umatilla branch. Before goin; he finished paying up all his time checks and indebtedness incurred in his recent work on the eastward extension of the Oregon Pacific railroad. This amount exceeded $100,000, over $75,000 having been paid through the Linn County bank ; and con sidering the fact that this was paid out by himself, without having re ceived one dollar from the Oregon Vacific Co., Mr. Hunt certainly deserves great credit. In fact had not he and Mr. Bennett been able to pay for the work themselves the result wouiu nave causeu more ori less financial disaster in this tion of the count rv. por Mr. Hunt does not desire to pub licly parade any grievance airainst the Oregon Pacific railroad com pany, but simply says they have not treated him right in settlement for work on his contract. It is to be hoped that their differences can be amicablv settled, and that Mr. Hunt will resuiue work in pu.shin uie roau east warn, me company certainly cannot afford to lose a responsible and energetic con tractor like Mr. Hunt. Sew Uruan. new Estev onran ihe new Estev oran for the Presbyterian church arrived Tues day, and has been put, in position. It is a beautiful instrument, being made of a high grade of black walnut, oiled and polished. It has two banks of manuals and two and one-third octaves of pedals. The manuals and pedals are con trolled by niiTeteen different regis ters. The organ is so aj ranged that it can be blown either bv the player or by a second person.' The quality of the stops are singularly clear, pine and free from the disa greeable nasal twangy tone com mon to many reed organs. This is almost always a chief characteris tic of an Estev organ. The choir will be reorganized once more, and j music made a more pleasing and elevating part of the usual ser vices. An Olden lime Party. Ye Hatchet Parcie next Monday evening at the G. A. R. and W.
