He leaves a valuable estate and it is under stood that the University of Oregon is a legatee for a large sum under the terms of his will. The treatment of preservation is accomplished by at, rilized air. At tho port of shipment, some bullocks and sheep were placed in a special chamber, the air of which wa» rubsquently freed from all impurities by means of a special process, hud the tem- perature reduced to 30 degrees be low freezing point. The chamber was then -oaleil, aud ’ when opened at Liverpool, after n voyage of thirty-four days, the carcasses were found to be in perfact condition. A piece of meat was cut from one animal and cooked, and when tasted was found to fie' as Irish and as savory as if it had only been killed a few hours.
