Masonic and 0. E- Star Joint Installation. 1 The Wcodmen’s Masquerade Chadwick Lodge, No. 68, A, F. A A. M., aud Beuluh Chapter, No. 6, j O. E. 8., observed their installation l Isst Wednesday night, St. John’s Day, jointly, concluding the exer cises with a social eveut and sup- per to the members of both orders j and their families. The committees deserve much praise for their labors, for t h e y spared nothing to make the event successful and creditable iu e v e r y particular—social sud pleasurable to the fullest degiec, aud yet criti cally reputable aud guardecL The steamer Anteb’ l'f from the lower river, and both the Fawn nnd Beta from the upper liver, were thronged with p itrous to the number of 130; while a special train from the bay delivered a round hundred Woodmen and friends. The ball was thronged to its utmost, and the number of masked participants reached a high number, creating much in terest and mirtlifulness. The music wns furnished by Leach’s orchestra, of five pieces, and of course filled the bill in every respect, and the dance went on throughout the night. Mrs. C. O. GiHicy I U Udie*’ prize, representing “ Cupid.” A l fred nnd Edwin Schroeder took the gentlemen’s prize, as “ R ob in son Crusoe and man Friday.” Other characters were very attrac tive, the “ colored folks what come to towu” being a leading attraction. The gross receipts were $175.65. Midnight supper at Hotel Coquille wns well patronized, and Host Cnrren aud wife spared no efforts to supply the demands.
