LOCAL ITEM S There »re 1165 patients in the losaoe asylum at Salem. Mrs. Charley Hirlcox came lip from Beaverton last Wednesday, on a visit to her sister, Mrs. Mynatt Geo. K. Rogers, organizer for the W. o f W., will give a public lecture in Marshfield on the 19th of August, and will also visit Coquille. Coroner's Inquest. Little Ones Want Homes. Dr Horsfall, coroner, was notified by Dr. Patterson, of Gardiner, on Thursday last, that Edward Hambidge, who was drowued at Teomile on July 2d, was supposed to have met with foul play, and the coroner was requested to investi gate the matter. Dr. Horsefall started for Tenmile next day and held an inquest, the testimony pro duced nt which proved conclusively that deceased was accidentally drowned and there was noevideuce whatever to show that be wns the victim o f foul play. The follow ing composed the jury: John L. Quick, P. G. Jordan, Frank Bow- ron, Geo. Rhodes, Alex Carlson, Albort Olson. After heariog the testimony they found “ that he came to his death by accidental drowning in the waters o f Black creek, North Lake, Cooa county, Oregon."— Coos Bay News. During the past two weeks 16 children have beon bestowed upon tho Boys’ and Girla’ Aid Society aud homes have been found for 13 of them. The home now has charge of 27 boys and 12 girls.
