M a r s h f ie l d , Or., March 24,1897. Was perpetrated nt Bandon Toes-! day night o f lost week, which holds the advance for daring and hardi hood in this section of tbecouutry. Three masked men entered L. W. Record’s saloon a little after mid night, where Mr. R. was engaged in writing a letter, two of whom presented pistols aud demanded that he should “ hands up.” O f course there seemed bat one of two things to do, and Mr. R. con cluded to obey tbe command, where upon two o f tbe men seized and hacked him into a corner, while tbe third ransacked the till, taking out the money, and then opened other drawers and places of deposit for treasure and valuables. They then relieved Mr. Record’s pockets of their contents, taking a knife, keys and watch. When they had se cured all that was to be found, they marched tbeir victim into tbe bill iard room, locked him in and com manded him to make no demon stration till they had gone. This was complied with and the robbers at once withdrew. Mr. Record has no clue. H e was of course excited and neryons, got no sight of tbo parties except aato describing tbeir higbt and how they appeared to him. Various statements have been made ns to the amount secured by the robbers, tbe most reliable of which is abont $190 in cash.
