At
Coaledo the water was up in sev­
eral houses, and carried away the
warehouse. Th e damage to J . F .
Dunham 's railroad, lo g g in g roads
landings, etc., cannot be lepaired
for less than $5000. Th e loss at
M y rtle P o in t was slight, mostly

STOCK.
So fa r we have heard of little
loss of stock by the flood, but in
the high ranges whore it snowed a
great deal the loss must have been
heavy.
M r. S tillw e ll lost three
head of cattle in the rive r and at
N orw ay several head were drowned
iu the freshet.
Aside from this
we have heard of only an occasion­
al calf, pig or some chickens being
drowned though doubtless word
fro n the upper rive r w ill show
tju¡to a heavy loss. M r. S elf near
tin’s place lost upwards o f 100
chickens.

Fred Schroeder’s field is covered
thus. M r S ,-!fs orchard was pret­

above Iowa slough, but exceeding
rapid below it, thus proving that
tLft narrow bottom at that point
was insufficient to allow the egress
of the accum ulating waters. I t ic
said that the rise at Bundon was
not above that of some high tides
of the past, while at Parkersburg,
another point where the hiDs con­
tract, it was four feet on the n.ill
wharf. It was a foot deep in D u n ­
ham’s house on the Isthm us, and
nothing lm ' tho smoke stack was
to be seen of the largest locomo­
tive standing on the grade beyond
tlie Ii< use.

Last Saturday ut three o’clock
p. m. a land slide occurred at R an­
dolph that resulted in the instant
death of Jo h n T h tu s li and his j
granddaughter, Miss M a ry R us­
sel.
Th e y lived at the upper end
of town in the old Th ru sh resi- i
douce.
The slide came from the
h ill at the rear c f the house and i
carried the structure and its oc­
cupants into Randolph slough.
T h e house was badly crushed.
R ichard T i i rush, youngest son of
the old gentleman killed, was badly
cut in the side of tho head and
stunned to unconsciousness.

Iv Hutchinson and a young brother
of Miss Russell who were also
grai d children o f M r. T h ru s h ,;
and the o n ly other occupants of
♦ be house, escaped uninjured.
Miss Russell’s body was fo u n d 1
badly crush d, and was buried on
Monday. Th o body of M r. Th ru sh j
has not been found, but is proba­
b ly under the d irt and debris at
the bottom of the slough, and w ill
doubtless be recovered when the
high water goes down.

Th ru sh was 72 years of ago and ;
leaves a host of relatives a n d ;
friends in dee» A sorrow and m o u rn -!
ing. M iss Russell was a daughter
of J . N. Russell of Randolph and
also is very deeply mourned. She
\vn9 10 years old.
It was feared that tho slide
would carrv the whole town away. ■
A deep crack in tho h ill back of
the Randolph hotel caused much
alarm.
