Church in this place, came to a close last Thurs day night. We hear it is the intention of this Church to commence a protract ed meeting at an early day—perhaps the coming week. Last night Prof. Campbell preached a highly interesting discourse at the Christian Church. Jle will preach again to night and to-morrow (Sunday), morning and evening. Stiles has been manu facturing a large stock of superior har ness during the winter months to sup ply the demands of the spring trade, which he would like them to examine for themselves. F i n e . —The weather which for the la-t two weeks has been very disagree able—with alternate sleet and rain— yesterday changed to a pleasant warm« ness, aud Old Sol once more deigned to peep from > behind his cloudy mantle, and smile on dame earth as pleasantly as of yore. A few weeks of such weather would be a great benefit to far mers. W e s t B id e R a i l r o a d . —The people of the West-Side counties will rejoice to learn that men of reliability and means are subscribing liberally for bonds lately issued to raise funds to complete and equip the first twenty miles of the road on this side of the river. When such men as W. S. Ladd, C. M. Carter, S. G. Reed, J . C. Ainsworth and other re sponsible names are connected with an enterprise, and invest their money in it we have no fears as to the final result. Let every encouragement and all the aid consistent with their means be given by those interjsted in the completion of the road, and the West-Side couuties will soon enjoy a new era of prosperity. — Blade i d r u g s t o r e . The Democrat further stated that the high- est tax paid in Linn was $300 (and a fractiou—the exact figure we could not decipher). Our highest reached the sum of $534 00.
