Smith and Port Sumner returned Sunday from Southern Curry county where they had been on a few day’s bear hunt ing expedition. They succeeded in bagging a number of bruins and se cured all the bear oil they could haul. One bear alone made about 20 gallons of the finest oil ever se cured in this section or any other so far as that is concerned. In conversation with Mr. Gar field he stated that there were doz ens of bear in the woods down •V, there. The boys had a fine time and enjoyed the outing to the fullest extent, as well as succeeding in getting what they went after in the way of game. Basket Ball Both the boy's and girl’s basket ball teams of the high school will go to Goquille Friday evening, where they will play with the re spective teams of the Coquille Higl School. The steamer Favorite wil be chartered for the occcasi >n an<t will make the round trip, and .til people interested in the school o in basket ball are invited to go along. Round trip tickets 50 cents.
