Reynolds, of Port- land, is conducting a studio of art in a couple of tents next to Lewin’s Meat Market. He had to take these quarters on account of the scarcity of rooms for that purpose. Mr. Reynolds has met success in his line all through the Valley and so far in Coos County. We met him at Hillsboro a year ago, at which time he stayed in the ppera house two weeks, giving satisfaction to his pupils. He had an enteresting en tertainment, and is a gentleman in every respect. We understand he will conduct open air performances near the Cafe every evening, free, for the purpose of advertising his work, that of painting on glass. We have seen a number of specimens which show his ability in that line. The work is carried so far as to give lustre in sets of rings, etc. His wife and little son are with him. R.B. Leep, of Myrtle Point, Or., a student at the medical college of the University of Oregon, reported to the police that he was held up by three men at Twentieth and Marshal streets, at 10:35 o’clock last night and robbed of about $6. Each of the highwayman carried a nickel plated revolver, Leep said. Leep asserts that he was stopped by the three highwayman as he was going to his lodging at 252 North Nine teenth street. They ordered him to throw up his hands, and one of them searched him while the others covered him i>ith their weapons. After taking all he had they hnrried away. The police were notified by a cit izen and Captain of Detectives Bruin detailed Actin.» Detective Coleman and Patrol Sergeant John son to investigate. They learned from Leep that the footpads were all young men, and all wore dark cloth ing, with slouch hats. .1 j Notice.
