Volume XXII. BANDON, Sues to Recover Damages Coquille Saloon Man Want* $5,000. A sensational action for damages was instituted in the circuit Court at Ibis place Monday morning, the case being another outcropping of the long waged and norelaxed community war over the liquor traffic. The plaintiff to the action is Chas. E. Baxter, and the defendant Philip E. Drane, but there are named as co-defendants and co-conspirators J. J. Lamb, M. H. Heraey, W. A. Goodman and A. E. Simpson. The amount sued for is $5000 and costs. A. S. Hammond is attorney for the plaintiff. Iu bis complaint Mr. Baxter al leges that iu June, 1905, tbe defend ants conspired to injure him io rep utation aud business by causing bis arrest and tbe continued closing of his establishment, be being, as be further alleges, eugaged in lawful re tail liquor selling in the city of Co quille. By reason of such arrest aud tbe deprivation of business earnings, contrary to the law and bis rights as a citizen be contends, be bas been in jured in character and business to an extent valued at $5000. Costs ancl counsel fees are also demanded.
