I Election News. FROM BUSY BA ND ON Portland,June 5- Governor Ch am bar lain bus carried tbe statu bj a decisive majority. Iu a list of i a The Growing Town of Coos County The Manufacturing Town counties including Multnomah, iu a (fount of 11,00ft, he has a lead of 468. At tbe same ratio for the rest of tbe stale, this means a majority of KOO. In Clatsop be has 200 majority, Malheur aud Baker 60(1, Liuu 400, Yambill 250, Grant 150, Marion 100 to 500, Union 606, Wasco 250, Umatilla 100, Jose phine 100, Douglas 200. Later returns show Word iu the lead for sheriff, and the indication points to his election. All Repub lican candidates iu tbe county except Stevens, for sheriff, are elected by a big majority, Tbe Republican legis lative ticket won by a vote of three to one. Cbamberlaiu is re elected by a vote of from 2000 to 5000, says Chairman Sweek, of the Democratic Committee. Tbe vote is far heavier than ex pected, exceeding tbe estimates. Many counties conceded to Witby- combe have beeu carried by Chamber- lain. Gearin ran far ahead of hw ticket, but the popular indorsement has gone to Jonathan Bourne. The Republicans have elected both con gressional candidates, Ellis by a large majority in the Second district, and Hawley by a greatly reduced party vote in tbe First, The entire Itepub- lican state ticket witb the exception of Withy com be has beeu elected by large majorities. In some precincts, Benson, for secretary of state, got two votes to Withycombe's one. Later returns show an increased majority for Chamberlain. Word for sheriff is prodably elected. Tbe equal suffrage amendment and lhe local option amendment are defeated. Senator Gearin, Democrat, is running far ahead of his ticket, as is Galloway, Democrat, in the First congressional district, but both are defeated. They were aocoui- pauied by Mrs. Frost, a cousin, and Anna Miller, a niece of Mrs. Kortb's, who are up from !Sau Francisco on a short visit. Messrs Chase aud J. Quick, of Coquille City, political campaigners, were amoug our Prosper visitors last week. Chas. Ashton, the up-river boom owner, was down with bis gasoliue boat, collecting his boom sticks last Friday.
