Ed Johnson, from up the river, was a cal ler here last Friday. Excitement prevailed throughout our little place last week, when tlic Ban Francisco disaster was reported. Several of our peo- l le have relatives I here and a great deal of uneiisincss was fill, but it is hoped that none liHVe met with any mishap. EJw. Mr. Aaseu, of Ansen Bros 'scamp, was a business visitor here last Sunday. J. Hicking and wife spent Saturday even ing and Sunday visiting the latter’s relatives at Bandon. A number of the dancers reported a pleas ant time Saturday night. J. S. Thompson and wife who have re sided here for the past year, departed Mon day morning for their farm uear Grant's Pass. Messrs Wm. Hi. king aud E. Fish took Monday's boat for Coquille where they wert to attend to some legal business. Messrs T. Minord and Baynes, recently from San Francisco, were guests of Mr and Mrs. Heuckendoiff last Sunday.
