Download all those family photos from phones, tablets, and computers onto a portable drive. Take some time to organize your photo files and rename your pictures by date, name or event. Fill in your new 2016 calendar with regular monthly BACKUP days so you can prevent devastating data loss. Have a photo party with your family. Bring out those old albums and share stories. Record names and dates where you can. There is no time like the present to preserve the past. Consider donating your photos to the Chachalu Archives. Staff will scan donations into the archive and return the originals to you. Printed copies also may be made available upon request. Plan a big New Year’s clean up. Set aside historic treasures for dusting, special handling or storage. If you would like to keep your things healthy and happy, it is important to keep moisture, excessive heat, light or pests from damaging them. Make an appointment with the Oral Historian and share your story. Contact Chachalu’s Oral Historian: Stacey Runningbird at 503-879-2381 or staceyrunningbird@grandronde.org A digital record can be added to the archives, and if you like, may be made available for future generations. Contact the Collections program for assistance. While we do not offer appraisals, we can assist with your preservation plans both immediate and long term.
