General Council meeting Sunday, Sept. 8 11 a.m. Tribal Community Center Elections Office open through Sept. 7 The Elections Office will be staffed through Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Lunch will be scheduled from 1 1:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. those days. An Election Board member will be available to assist Tribal members with voting concerns, such as voting eligibility, filling out signature verification forms, updating signatures and answering questions. The Elections Office is located in the Tribal Community Center and can be reached by calling 503-879-2271 during office hours or by leaving a message. B EDdleirs FosIhiDinig Tetdip sett ffoir epti. 25 An Elders Fishing Trip and Picnic is set for Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Henry Haag Lake near Forest Grove. Buses will leave the Elders' Activity Center at 8 a.m. This is a rain or shine event. Transportation, fishing gear and a meal will be provided. The meal will include burgers, hot dogs and a picnic-style luncheon. The Tribe's Fish and Wildlife Committee is sponsoring the event for Elders and their spouses only. A Tribal fishing license is required. It can be acquired by calling the Tribal Natural Resources Department at 503-879-2424. B VoDumfteeirs wa untied The Tina Miller Community Center Thrift Store, HOB. St., Willamina, helps fund the after-school and weekend youth community center located in the old Willamina High School gym. The thrift store is seeking volunteers who can help run the store, in ad dition to donated items and customers. The store accepts clothes, books, knickknacks, etc., as donations. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday. Donations also can be left at the Wildwood Hotel and Restaurant in Willamina. For more information on volunteering, call 503-876-7897. The youth center and thrift store are nonprofit and 100 percent self sustaining and volunteer-run. Willamina High slates 1945-55 Reunion A Willamina High School All Classes 1945-55 Reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 7. For more information, contact Marilyn Rosenbaum at 385 S.W. Hill Drive, Willamina, or at 503-876-6773. The event will honor Johnny Johnson from the Class of 1950. He walked on several months ago. B Education offers Chinuk Wawa classes The Tribe's Cultural Education Department offers adult Chinuk Wawa language classes from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday in Room 207 in the Tribal Adult Education Building. Language classes can be taken for college credit or fun. For more information, call 503-879-2249 or 503-437-4599. B Clarification In the Aug. 15 story about Chemawa Cemetery, it was noted that Cecil Bremner was the most recent person to be buried there. His granddaugh ter passed on afterward and also was buried in the cemetery. It should be noted that this is only the best researchers know now and further study may turn up older and newer graves. Tribal offices will be closed on Friday, Sept. 27, in observance of National Indian Day.
