B To3 alsODODUg Polk County market seeks vendors The Polk County Bounty Market is seeking area vendors to sell their wares between 3 and 7 p.m. Thursdays in July and August. The Bounty Market will feature growers and artisans from Polk County and all items for sale must be grown, produced or assembled in Oregon by the vendor. B 2005 Tribal member Maria Ramirez portrayed Sacajawea on the Tribal float in the Southwest Airlines' Grand Floral Parade. The float, titled "Hello! We are the Columbia River People!," won the Sweepstakes Award for Most Outstanding Float. 2000 The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde signed an agree ment with the American Museum of Natural History in New York City that will ensure Tribal access to the Willamette meteorite -Tomano-wos - in the future. "I can't begin to tell you how much this means to us," Tribal Council Chairwoman Kathryn Harrison said. 1995 The first meeting of the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission occurred. Gene Davidson, Leonette Galligher, Lynn Hillman and Robert Watson were sworn in as commission members and Watson was elected chairman. Watson, a Tribal member, graduated from Willamette University and served as Delaware Commissioner of Corrections. 1990 Kelly Jeanne (Pichette) Nelson graduated from California State University-Sacramento with a bachelor's degree and was ac cepted into the Hahneman University School of Medicine in Phila delphia, Pa. 1985 Tribal members Dean Mercier and Mike Larsen were orga nizing the first annual Slo-Pitch Softball Tournament to be played in August. The tournament was part of the first annual powwow events being held the same weekend.
