Smoke Signals 10 JULY 1,2009 Dee (Siresnnra sosfiaD Tilixam: I'm sending this letter to express my gratitude and appreciation to all of my family and friends who gave me their love and support during the time when my Mom walked on. A special thanks to Margo Merrier, who took the time to sit with our family and share stories about our family's history. Her words of wisdom brought us a sense of peace and comfort. A very sincere thank you to all of the staff members at the Health & Wellness Center. I would like to thank the many people who suggested Bollman Funeral Home. Bruce Workman's attention to detail provided a beautiful service for my mother. He described Mom in one word, and that one word is "diverse." His patience and generosity was comforting and much appreciated. Thank you to the Elder Committee for sending flowers to my Mom while she was in the hospital and for all the love and support they gave my Mom throughout the years. At Spirit Mountain Casino, Robin, Deb, Tom and Brian P. and the many others who looked after my Mom while she was at the casino. Also, I need to recognize my very best friend, Janele Riggs, for help ing with taking care of Mom. Everything has not gone unnoticed. You've helped with Mom's care so enormously. Your love and compassion for the care you gave Mom is so greatly appreciated. Also to a very dear friend who said it best when he said, 'To know her is to love her." If I failed to recognize anyone, please forgive me. You will be thanked when our paths cross in the future. Hayu Masi James Byars Roll 1160 Dear Tribal members: This is a response to Wink Soderberg's letter about doing enough for your Tribal Elders. I also am an Elder, a Chippewa from White Earth, Minn. Being we don't live on our reservation, we don't get anything from our Tribe. Nothing. Period. I've been going to the Grand Ronde Health & Wellness Center for the past six years. It has been paid by the government for all American In dians. This clinic is a godsend for me. I have been treated with dignity and respect. Your Tribal members should all count their blessings and thank God you have a great community to watch your backs. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. May Gitchi Manidow, Great Spirit, bless and guide you all. Me-q witch Diane Bisson Lawrence Corvallis, Ore. R9v l It MMMH Games, Lnngucgo, Ttadltlorid Crafting, urcna Konao uuituro cna mcro...
