Logan works as a maintenance technician in the Facilities Department at the Tribe and lives in Grand Ronde. He was nominated by his wife, Tribal member Lydia Logan. Tribal member Valorie Sheker, 47, Roll 2236. Sheker is a current Tribal Council member, serving since September 2006, and lives in Grand Ronde. She was nominated by Tribal Elder Adrainne Llaneza. Tribal Elder Sanda (Sam) L. Henny, 62, Roll 409. Henny is Tribal Career Development man ager in Spirit Mountain Casino's Human Resources Department and lives in Dallas. She was nominated by her cousin, Tribal member Con nie Holmes. Tribal member Shelley Hanson, 46, Roll1779. Hanson is director of Spirit Mountain Community Fund and is a real estate professional. She lives in Salem. She was nomi nated by Tribal Elder Chip Tom. Tribal member Brent Merrill, 48, Roll 1362. Merrill, former edi tor of Smoke Signals, now owns a public relations business and lives in Grand Ronde. He was nominated by his aunt, Tribal Elder Ellen Fischer. Tribal member Stanley Jeffers, 53, Roll 1320. Jeffers, a retired carpenter, lives in Grand Ronde. He was nominated by his son, Tribal member Leo Jeffers. Marrington lives in Sheridan where she helps her parents, Tribal Elder Dianne Giffen, who nominated her, and Edward W. (Bill) Giffen. She has worked in office and banking posi tions for many years. Tribal member April Camp bell, 35, Roll 1260. Campbell is manager of the Tribe's Education Division and lives in Dallas. She was nominated by her sister, Tribal member Alicia Finney. Tribal member Michael Bolton, 41, Roll 4762. Bolton currently sells his art work, including beads and paintings. He lives in Grand Ronde and was nominated by Tribal Elder Harold Lyon. Tribal member Perri McDaniel, 48, Roll 2524. McDaniel, a Retail Buyer at Spirit Mountain Casino, lives in Grand Ronde and was nominated by Tribal Elder Jolanda Catabay. At the time of the meeting, the Election Board had 2,251 verified signatures on file for 3,692 eligible voters. Only those Tribal members with verified signatures will receive ballots. At the time of the meeting, 1,441 eligible voters would not be receiving ballots in the scheduled mailing on July 29. Eligible voters without verified signatures may, however, provide signatures to the Election Board until Sept. 11. Tribal member Penny DeLoe, chair of the Elec tion Board, will be available to take the signatures in the Tribal Records Building, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, through July 26. From July 27 to Sept. 11, DeLoe will be available at the Elections Office in the Tribal Community Center, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, Election Board mem bers and Tribal Elders with rela tives running for office Joann Mercier, Sharon Hanson and Anna Hannan stepped down from their . positions for the duration of the election. Alternate members step ping up to serve in their absence are Tribal members Michael Mercier and John Darcy II. Candidate Statements will be featured in the next issue of Til ixam Wawa, slated to be mailed the week of July 27. Candidates will be limited to 600 words in their state ments. Deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 22. Election results will be counted at the Community Center on Satur day, Sept. 12, and posted that eve ning on the Community Center's front doors.
