10 JANUARY 15, 2009 Smoke Signals REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS Cultural Education The Tribe has offered Cultural Education in the Grand Ronde com munity for many years, and more recently has extended learning op portunities to the area offices in Portland and Eugene. Classes have been successful and generally well attended. In an effort to better serve the Tribe's membership, the Cultural Education program has prepared the following Request of Proposals (RFP). We are seeking to attain a variety of proposals for cultural educa tion classes. Proposals may be for individual (single or multiple days) classes such as basketry, gathering, beading or larger programmatic classes. This RFP is distributed to all contractors who have provided cul tural education services within the last year but is not limited to only those contractors. If you would like to submit a proposal, or know someone who may be interested, please contact the Tribe's Cultural Education Special ist, Misty Thorsgard, for more information (503-879-2320 misty. thorsgardgrandronde.org). Instruction for Preparing Cultural Education Proposal: SUPPORTING EFFORTS (awarded contractor shall) Provide all general contracting services specified in final contract with the Tribe. Provide all material for the class that is being offered (unless oth erwise arranged by contract). Contractor shall be responsible for providing a syllabus for the class(es) if previously taught and will be responsible for developing a syllabus by the end of the class(es) if the class has not previously offered. Provide a sign-in sheet for each class(es), where contractor delin eates between Tribal members or non-Tribal member attendees. Contractor shall act as a liaison between the Cultural Resources Department and the students. Contractor will be responsible for all expenses not expressly ad dressed in final contract with the Tribe. Reasonable expenses may include travel-related expenses. Contractor(s) will not be paid while traveling to offices from their home. SCOPE OF SERVICE Please be sure to respond to each question explicitly when asked for information requested within this Request for Proposal. If you are a Tribal member please include your enrollment number. For purposes of submission, answer questions according to the numerical order listed below. Please provide 11 duplicate copies of your proposals. Submissions not formatted correctly will not be considered: 1. Give a detailed list of the class or classes that you would like to teach. Please include any relevant background information as to why Grand Ronde should be hosting these classes. 2. What is your distance from Grand Ronde office, Portland office and Eugene office? Are you willing to travel to each of the offices to teach your class, or classes? 3. How long have you been practicing your craftart? 4. Describe the materials that you will need to instruct your class. If they are specialized materials describe how you will be able to obtain these items. 5. Will your class need specialized classroom space or teaching resources. If so, describe what will be required for your class. 6. Please include a detailed budget of all costs associated with your proposal on a per class basis and for the entirety of the class. Describe any particular features of yourself or your organization that have not been addressed or you would like to elaborate upon. This is a competitive process. Tribe tto Ihiostt CoflOege GoaD Oiregouu eveiraft The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde will be one of 27 sites throughout Oregon to host College Goal Oregon from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Adult Education Building. College Goal Oregon will have financial aid experts available to help college bound high school students and their parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid worksheet and submit the online application. The FAFSA determines eligibility for need-based federal, state and campus based financial aid, including the Oregon Opportunity Grant. Sites will include presentations on searching and applying for private schol arships and bilingual volunteers will be available at most locations. Students should bring a parent or guardian if possible, the family's most recent federal income tax return, current value of assets, Social Security numbers, driver's license and alien registration card if not a U.S. citizen. Last yenr, more than 2,000 Oregon families participated in the first College Goal Oregon at 20 sites.
