JULY 1,2007 Smoke Signals 9 A Grand Ronde bull rider Brandon Stackhouse gets some "air time" on his bull during the Bull Riding competition. On the weekend of June 23-24, the Tribe hosted the Spirit Mountain Rodeo held at the rodeo grounds in Grand Ronde. The events included bareback riding, steer wres tling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping, and break away roping. Mary Shae Hays of Hermiston participated in the Breakaway competition in which the cowgirl has to throw a lasso around a calf's head in the quickest time in order to win the event.
