Participating in the Royalty Court is an excellent chance for young Tribal women to represent the Tribe in a positive way. It does require com mitment and time, but is a tremendous honor. There will be dance, protocol, craft and speaking classes that will help prepare yourself to be on Royalty. Any young lady who would like to participate in Royalty to gain experience may serve as a Princess and not compete this year for a Queen position. Fill out the application form provided and send it to the Royalty Board. Personal contacts can be made with Donna Casey 503-879-6444. We encourage any interested young lady who is a Tribal member between the ages of 5 and 18 to join us. Royalty Board members are Donna Casey, Margaret Provost, Pat Allen, Marilee Norwest-Davis, Valorie Sheker-Robertson, Ali Holsclaw and Tracy Biery. Participants must be an enrolled member of the Grand Ronde Tribe, be alcohol and drug free, be childless and never married. If school age, must be attending school (private or public) full-time. Miss Tiny Tot 5-8 years of age (honorary only) Junior Miss Grand Ronde 9-13 years of age Senior Miss Grand Ronde 14-18 years of age Participants must have their own regalia. It is not the responsibility of the Royalty Board, Tribal Council or any other Tribal program to provide. Members of the Royalty Court are not paid positions, although the chosen Queens and Princesses will receive motel fees and a set amount for travel expenses for attending required events. For all fund-raisers and activities that Royalty is involved in, the court and their families or sponsors are required to participate. All the members on the Royalty Court must show good judgement by not participating in any activities that could bring adverse publicity to themselves or the Tribe. All members of Royalty must comply with the Royalty guidelines and the Royalty agreement. All girls must be the age of category by April 1 5, 2006. Summer Youth Employment Program Begins June 12, 2006 for early school release students Begins June 26, 2006 for late school release students $7.50 per hour Monday-Friday, 4 hours per day 8 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Requirements: Enrolled Grand Ronde Tribal Youth between the ages of 14-17 years by June 12, 2006. Must be responsible, reliable and dedi cated. Youth participating must be respectful of others, well mannered, positive attitude, good work ethic and willing to work as a team. The following are several new changes to the application process this year: Applications are immediately available on the website or at the Tribal Human Resource Department. All applications must be returned to the Human Resource office by Friday, May 5, with a copy of Tribal enrollment, Social Security card and most current report card. Applications will be dated upon receiving and a letter of confirma tion will be sent. Applications received after this date will be placed on a waiting list. Interviews will be June 5 & 6 for early release students and June 26 for late release students. Grand Ronde Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program The Grand Ronde Tribe is operating its own Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LI HEAP) to assist income eligible Grand Ronde Tribal members with energy payments (utility bills, firewood, etc.), energy emergencies and weatherization (e.g. furnace repairs). Households with an adult Grand Ronde Tribal member are eligible to apply within Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Washington, Multnomah, Tillamook, and Clackamas counties. CTGR members in these counties need to contact Grand Ronde to receive assistance instead of from the community action agency in their area. Grand Ronde's program enables more CTGR members to be served than would otherwise have been possible. If you are interested in obtaining services contact Social Services at 1-800-242-8196 for energy assistance and the Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority at 503-879-2405 for weatherization. The Tribe's LIHEAP program also serves all income eligible Indians on Grand Ronde Reservation or trust land. A v,,"-",
