Smoke Signals 9 MARCH 15, 2006 fe-A pHi E-Cl Attention Tribal Members We are seeking written comments from Tribal members regarding the 1999 amendment. Please address all comments and concerns to the Enrollment Ad-hoc Committee, Attn: Debby Larsen, 9615 Grand Ronde Road, Grand Ronde, Oregon 97347. The committee continues to meet the second and fourth Sunday of each month at 1 p.m. in the Adult Education classroom with the exception of April. We will meet on the first Sunday of April directly after the April 2 Eugene General Council at the Eugene Satellite office. All members are invited to attend and share verbal or written comments. Personal Use Firewood Available On Reservation The Natural Resources Division of the Grand Ronde Tribes would like to an nounce that two new firewood cutting areas will be opening on two weekends in March. The 206 Road and the 212 Road gates will be opened on March 18 and March 19 and again on March 25 and March 26. The 206 Road and the 212 Road border the Elk Habitat Enhancement Area and are normally closed to motorized vehicles. Firewood is also available elsewhere on the Res ervation. Interested Tribal members may obtain permits from the Natural Resources Office at 47010 S.W. Hebo Road (Hwy 22). Firewood permits will also be available from our on-site Patrol Officer on the two weekends that the 206 Road and 212 Road will be open for cutting. The gates will be opened at 8 a.m. and closed at 4 p.m. each day. Basic Firewood Cutting Rules: You must be a Tribal member to obtain a permit. Permits are free of charge, if the wood is for personal, household use. Commercial firewood permits are not available at this time. The Natural Resources Division will issue permits for up to 5 cords per household per year. Permits and load tickets are issued one cord at a time (About two pick-up loads). A Tribal member may designate up to two substitute people (proxies) to cut firewood for you, but the Tribal member must obtain and sign the permit. Other rules apply, so ask the Patrol Officer for more information or come to the Natural Resource Office for details.
