I am a LangleyLaChance descendant. 1 am running for Tribal Council and ask for your support. I am very grateful for all I have been given and would like to be able to give back to my people. I will make a promise to DONATE lA of my wages the first year to the Health department. I believe the greatest asset we have is our people; and, our people's health is the key to our future. I have had a successful reer in real estate for 35 years. I have been a Bookkeeper and Office Manager; for doctors offices and grocery stores. I have been bonded and insured for million dollars. I have been an Accounts Receivable Supervisor for Portland State University; and, a Special Liaison with Foreign Students. I have been a Confidential Secretary for two at torneys. I also ran a snack bar for 10 years. I would like to share some of my thoughts and hopes for the Tribe. First I would like to see our casino become a Resort Destination. This is by far, our number one investment and number one revenue- gen erating development. By including a swimming pool, horseback riding, putt-putt golf, etc., we could continue to draw gamblers, fam ily and folks that want to get out of the big cities. I have heard many suggestions from other Tribal members and believe we Can work together to come up with a cost-effective means of continuing to be the 1 attraction in the state of Oregon. I believe we need to utilize our natural resources, such as berries and herbs. We once had a cannery to produce the famous "gay moc casin jam." We need to provide for a diversified economy. We should provide a type of mini mall, in the Grand Ronde area. We could have several different small shops, computer supply store, Laundromat, shoe store, real estate office, tax preparer, etc. We create what we need and realize a profit from it. We allow our people to have some help in their small business. We also need to research other indus tries that we can operate. We all want housing for our people to be able to come home; but we need jobs for the people. We should research what could be pro duced for other businesses also. The more dependable and versa tile we are the more return business we would have. If we produced a product the state or national company needed, the more we se cure our place in the business world. I believe we should have a 10 year business plan, so as to stay focused and reportable. I believe we should provide educational opportunities for our youth, as they are the future leaders of this Nation. We should in stitute a mentor program in our Tribal Offices. Qualified Tribal members should always get the job first! We should provide oppor tunities for Ambassadors. We have many qualified speakers within our Tribe, we could expand to have past CouncilRestoration Elders, to be our Representatives and cut some of the Tribal Council travel. We should have a set plan for land purchases. These are the only promises I can make; I promise to donate XA of my wages the first year, for the health of our people. I promise to bring my business sense and my common sense to the council table. I promise to listen to my people and try and find the solutions needed to resolve conflict and provide for the success of our Nation. The only limit, is the limit we put upon ourselves. It is time for us to stop looking at the shore and start looking at the horizon! Please support me, so that I may work for our People and the Suc cess of our Nation!
