Are you planning on attending a college or university in Fall, 2005? If so, check with the college or university for their scholarship deadlines. Many schools have deadlines in January and February. Regardless of where you will be attending, start preparing now. Most scholarships require personal statements, letters of recommendation and transcripts. Miss Native American Pacific Northwest Pageant The Miss Native American Pacific Northwest Pageant is designed to be a scholarship program which helps young Native American women to complete their education in their chosen field. Please consider entering the pageant if you are: between the ages of 17 and 24, have never been married, are enrolled in a college or university or plan to continue your secondary education, a resident of Oregon, Washington or Idaho, an en rolled member of a federally recognized Tribe, have never been convicted of any criminal offense and there are no criminal charges presently pend ing against you. Tribal Education Scholarship Applications Now Available! 2005 Education Scholarship applications are now available in the following categories: Full & Part-Time Undergraduate, Full & Part Time Graduate, Full & Part-Time Adult Vocational Training, Eula Petite Memorial. You must be a Tribal member. Application deadline is Saturday, April 30, 2005. To request an application, please call the CTGR Education Division at 503-879-2275 or 1-800-422-0232 ext 2275. Oregon Student Assistance Commission Scholarships Applications are now available for the 2005 OSAC Scholarships. Each year OSAC administers over 300 scholarships through their application. Application deadline is Tuesday, March 1 or enter for an Early Bird Scholarship by Tuesday, February 15. Grand Ronde Library The Grand Ronde Tribal Library is located in the Education Build ing. Library hours are as follows: Monday Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday & Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library collection contains over 1,500 items. We have fiction non-fiction for youth and adults, a significant Native American collec tion, books on tape and a limited children's collection. The library has two computers available for use that has internet access. We have an impressive reference section with mostly all new materials. We are in an assessment process to determine the needs of our li brary patrons. Please share your comments about what you think we need to have available to better serve the local community library needs. THE LIBRARY CORNER Now that the holiday rush has ended, it is time to sit back and relax with a good book. We were very lucky to have received a large selec tion of new and almost new fiction and non-fiction from Ronnie Pederson who owns a bookstore in Vancouver. Stop by soon and check out what we have available for your reading enjoyment. We are in the process of moving things around to make room for more individual reading areas and to help serve you better. Your Education Checklist: JANUARY 1 30: Make copies of your completed Federal Financial Aid application. Mail original in the envelope provided; send copy to the Tribal Education division; and keep copy for yourself. JANUARY 1 APRIL 30: Request and complete the Tribal Education Scholarship program application. Mail to the Tribal Education Division. BEGINNING OF EACH TERMSEMESTER: Mail new class schedules to the Tribal Education Division. END OF EACH TERMSEMESTER: Mail grade reports to the Tribal Education Division. MONTHLY: For students attending a proprietary school, you need to send a grade report, progress report and attendance record every month to the Tribal Education Division. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR: Maintain contact with the Tribal Education Specialist.
