The Elders presented the captain with a Tribal Blanket and pamplet telling about the Tribal history. Everyone enjoyed the trip so much that it was decided they would take the trip again next summer. November 12-13 Christmas Bazaar The Elders will be putting together a basket to raffle and need donations for the basket. Donation items could include crackers, jams, cheese, pickles, olives, Thanksgiving type of foods. Love, your family Grand Ronde Road Improvement Project 101904 Public Meeting Notice The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde (CTGR) will host a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday October 19 at the Governance Cen ter at 9615 Grand Ronde Road, in Grand Ronde. Engineering and design team representatives from Polk County, Yamhill County, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Grand Ronde Tribes will be present. Residents and adjoining property owners are encouraged to attend to review the full engineering plans, ask questions and make comments. The plans include some changes requested at the 2003 preliminary design public meeting. After October 19 the plans will also be available for review at the Governance Center and at the Polk County Public Works Department. The Grand Ronde Road Im provement Project includes road widening, bicycle lanes, and side walk improvements. Most of the design cost was funded by BIA and most all of the construction cost will be funded by BIA and a $500,000 Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) from the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In addition to the roadway improvements, the project will also upsize the community sewer main and those costs will primarily be borne by another $500,000 ICDBG HUD grant and by the U.S. Indian Health Service. Tribal mem bers are encouraged to forward suggestions for the Tribe's ICDBG grant opportunity to Kim Rogers, Planning & Grants Development Manager, Grand Ronde Tribes, 9615 Grand Ronde Road, Grand Ronde, OR 97347 or call 503-879 2250. ICDBG grants are to primarily benefit low moder ate income communities and can be for community buildings, infrastruc ture (sewer, water, road), economic development, housing rehabilitation and some other housing assistance.
