Call To Artists: Willamina's 13th Annual Coastal Hills Art Tour Applications for Willamina's 13th Annual Coastal Hills Tour are now available at Willamina Coastal Hills Chamber Office (Keith's Eagle Re alty). The Art Tour is held the second Friday and Saturday of November and is a festive traditional kick-off to the holiday season. The Art Tour is a judging event for professional artists only in the Willamina, Grand Ronde and Sheridan area. The tour is located in Willamina's downtown area and was originated and is sponsored by the Willamina Business Group. Deadline for Applications is May 15. There is a $35 fee to enter (late entries $45). New applicants to the event must have their applications for judged no later than May 15; no late entries will be accepted. Judging will be held Saturday, June 5. In terested artists may also contact April Wooden at 503-876-4664 for an application form. Roger is a nationally renowned artist and respected flute player who will be in the area and offered to share his gift of traditional flute making. All flutes are hand made. This special class is designed for those who wish to learn how to make a Native flute and players who want to learn more. Upon completion, par ticipants will: Know how to make a traditional Native flute and how they can get started. Be familiar with traditional flute playing techniques. Understand the concepts of tuning and keys. Review the history of Native flutes. Included: Guest speakers and demonstrations, audio and video presen tations, handouts will be provided.
