Applications are now being accepted for eight appointments to a committee that advises the Com mission and the Oregon Department of Human Services on state services to people with disabilities. Membership is open to individuals with disabilities or their advocates. Advisory committee members serve one-year terms are expected to attend a meeting every other month in Salem. Applications must be returned by August 31, 2001. CHINUK-WAWA CLASS OFFERED nixwa nasayka munk skuksm rwsayka chinuk-wawa. "Let's work on strengthening our Chinuk-wawa (Jargon)." Another multi-level lluee-credit class in chinuk-wawa will be offered in September. It will be conducted by the Tribe's Cultural Education program and sponsored by the Univer sity of Oregon. The ten-week course will begin September 24 and will be held on Monday nights from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Tribe's Community Center. SPRUCE ROOT AND RUSH GATHERING DAY Wednesday, August 22. Accomplished basket maker and teacher Margaret Mathewson will guide this all day trip to gather traditional Grand Ronde basketry materials. Spruce Root and Rush will be the focus, but other materials will also be discussed. TRADITIONAL BASKETRY Wednesday nights, August 22-September 12. Accomplished basket maker and teacher Margaret Mathewson will teach this four night class focused on traditional Grand Ronde basketry. Participants will focus on their choice of materials and techniques.
