Iki Lovmg Memory Harold Mercier Feb. 12, 1909 - March 6, 2001 Tribal Elder Harold Gaylan Mercier, 92, of Grand Ronde passed away Tuesday, March 6. He was born in Grand Ronde arid moved to Taft, spending many years in the Siletz River area. He was a logger. Harold married Velma (Hudson) in 1929. She passed on in 1998. Harold loved hunting both here and at Sawtooth Creek Camp in East ern Oregon near Burns. He really enjoyed telling his hunting stories to his grandkids and their kids. After he began spending a lot of time at home due to his health, he liked having company but the best times for him were when Joann and family gathered him up to take him for a ride in the "limo" on the roads in the mountains. Survivors include his son, Dean of Grand Ronde; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. A rosary and service were held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Grand Ronde, where he was a member. Velma and Harold. Hunting in Eastern Oregon in 1976. Submit your poster idea by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 20 for a chance to win $100. Two posters will be chosen from each age group and awarded $100. Posters will be cho sen by the Tribal Wellness depart ment and could be used on preven tion material. Sample Ideas: 1. Dangers of tobacco smok ingchew (cancer, bad breath, yel low teeth, gum disease, increases risk for heart attack, emphysema, shorten life span) 2. Second hand smoke (low birth weight, increase risk for SIDS, irritates eyes, smoke from a burning cigarette has more toxins than smoke inhaled by the smoker) 3.
