May 1, 1998 Tribal Life Meetings planned for Elders' housing The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Au thority is beginning work with the architect Bruce Sternberg to design a master plan for housing for the Elders in Grand Ronde. This plan will determine the possible types of housing andor other related facilities and the gen eral location of the buildings to be constructed on the site now or in the future. As part of this planning pro cess, the 32-38 units of rental hous ing for Elders will also be designed and located on the site. There will be several meetings in May where Elders and other inter ested tribal members will be invited to attend to provide ideas, prefer- ences, and dislikes. The dates for these meetings will be available upon publication of this is sue, and interested persons may call the Authority for the times. However, any Elders who are not able to attend these meetings but would like to make comments or suggestions, may do so by calling Bryan Langley at the Hous ing Authority at 879-2467 or 1-800-422-0232, ext. 2467; or by writing to the Authority at 9615 Grand Ronde Road, Grand Ronde, OR 97347. Pearl Lyon shared a childhood ex perience with Wild Ginger, an herb used for infection. Additional infor mation was provided from Hubert Mercier. Janet Phillips shared recipes for the cookbook. Everyone shared stories, experi ences, and documents about their families. Also a large LaChance fam ily descendancy was represented. Thank you all for coming.
