6 July 1, 1997 SMOKE SIGNALS (Bemmwmiiuw True Colors returning July 1 1 People who attended the TRUE COLORS WORKSHOP on March 7, learned they might be "passionate blues, fun loving oranges, orderly golds, or thinking, problem solving greens." The workshop, which is highly interactive, is returning on July 11. Training is targeted for parents, staff and individuals, who work with a wide variety of clients. True Colors uses temperament categories on the Meyers-Briggs (MBTI) and is adaptation of work by David Keirsey and Marilyn Bates, Please Understand Me. Workshop goals enable participants to recognize and appreciate the strengths and pref erences of themselves and others, and enhance communication. The workshop is fast paced, innovative and fun. Trainers for the True Colors workshop are Ms. Heather Alberts, Ms. Carole Ferlazzo, and Ms. Beverly Burns, of the Center for Education Development. Please join us at this fun filled workshop. Hats off to GED recipients Hats off to the many students who completed their GED requirements or got closer to their GED goal. We were proud to honor the following students at the Recognition and Honors dinner held on May 31: Tiffany Clark, Dennis Knight, Sr., Shelley Kent, Jack Pierce, Vonnie Edmondson, and Kristina Dizick. Kristina and family also attended a GED Honors Celebration at the Chemeketa McMinnville campus. Family and friends celebrated the GED graduation with Tiffany Clark, Dennis Knight, Sr., and Joseph Haller. Congratu lations to Donna Stratford for acing the GED science test. Free summer lunch program Willamina School District will offer a summer food service program for children at ' Grand Ronde Elementary School (GRES). Free meals will be served to children 18 years of age and younger. This free lunch service is available to all community children. No registration or eligibility requirements. Request for Proposal This request for proposal is for the purpose of soliciting applications for CATERING a special event dinner that will serve 300 people. The expectations would be to set up and decorate the tables, serve the Buffet, and clean-up the food tables and area. The event will be August 29, 1997 at Grand Ronde, Oregon. Notice of Availability Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for the proposed SPIRIT MOUNTAIN .HOTEL AND CASINO EXPANSION This notice is to advise interested parties that an Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are available for the proposed Spirit Mountain Hotel and Casino Expansion at Spirit Mountain Casino 27100 SW Salmon River Highway, Grand Ronde Oregon. The EA discloses detailed descriptions of the proposed actions, alternatives to the proposed actions and analysis of the likely environmental consequences of the proposed actions and alternatives. This document discusses plans to expand the existing casino gaming floor to accommodate new types of games and to construct a 100 room Hotel. On June 4, 1997 the EA will be available for public review for 30 days. Willamina Summer Youth Volunteers are needed to help with some of the events planned for the youth in the area this summer. Activities include: field trips, swimming, movies, arts and crafts, picnics, and nature walks. These activities are open to all Willamina and Grand Ronde elementary, middle, and high school stu dents. Fees and sack lunches are required for field trips. Drum and Dance practice begins Beginning July 1, drum and dance practice will be held at the Commu nity Center on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. Practice will continue throughout the week of the Grand Ronde Fbw-wow.
