V.Z 'Zi ' ( r V . J! J AuililtMt; Joe Brisbois His infectious laughter is the first thing you notice upon meeting Tribal member Joe Brisbois. Brisbois, grew up in White Swan, Washington and on the Spokand reservation where he learned to hunt and fish with his family. Brisbois likes basketball and baseball and spent time traveling to baseball and softball tournaments during the summers. After spending a semester in college, Brisbois fought fires and worked for a logging company before becoming interested in day care while living on the Warm Springs reservation. When asked about the transition from working in the woods compared to working with children Brisbois responded by saying "It was alright, it wasn't that hard to make the change because I had the right attitude." While reading the "Smoke Signals" Brisbois noticed a job announcement for the Contract Health Representa tive position that he currently holds. "I saw the job description and decided to apply not knowing if I would get the job," explained Brisbois. "But, after I inter viewed I thought that I had a good chance. I think my experience with children and my willingness to learn may have helped me out." Brisbois' job responsibilities include doing the paper work on clients that need to go to visit doctor's or hospitals and takes care of their referrals to Contract Health. Brisbois also delivers medication to those who can't pick it up and handles transporting clients who don't have the means to get to their health care appoint ments. Having a new career and a job that he enjoys have made Brisbois feel at peace with himself and his sur roundings. "This is the best working environment I've ever been in and I enjoy working for my Tribe." , - ' & .it ..4 Darlene Aaron i " '" 1 1 I.., T' J I ; A L' vg-MMHMiiii iii-nimnmi'ttiwi Th j.; r'-yrimj,,,."
