EDUCATION UPDATE The month of January 1987 brings an increase in enrollment in all phases of educational services. Currently, the Tribe has 13 students participating in Employment Assist ance - AVT Programs; with three students pending Spring Term. At total of 11 students are participating in Higher Education Pro grams with 1 student pending Spring Term enrollment. In the Adult Education com ponent, there are 10 students who are par ticipating in G.E.D.; Basic Skills Develop ment; and Self Improvement classes. Lets continue to support our students! !! Students wishing to enter school (communi colleges, colleges and universities) in t Fall of 1987, you will need to file your Financial Aid Form for 1987-88. You can file your application on or after January 1, 1987. You should contact the financia aid offices by mid-December at the colleg or school you are interested in attending Tribal assistance is based on the FAF and it is best to file your application early TRIBAL MEMBER VISITS AUSTRALIA On .Christmas day, Tribal member Doug Colto left for Australia along with 15 other col and high school students, as well as assor coaches and trainers. They represented th United States (Oregon) in a U.S. A. Austral baseball tournament. The guys spent a wee and half touring Australia, playing baseba and enjoying the many sights and activitie. the "down-under" has to offer. The team made history as being the only U.S. team ever to come home with a 9-0-1 record. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped to make the trip poss: for Doug, either by direct contribution or purchasing raffle tickets in support of fui raising efforts for this trip. Special thanks to Roy Zimbrick for donatinj the rifle and scope given away at the raff drawing (won by Joyce and Cliff Logan of Salem).
