SMOKE SIGNALS Grand Konde Newsletter COVER STORY: Notes from the Chairman Like last month's notes, Tribal Council's attention was primary spent working on the reservation plan. We were meeting with groups and individuals. Merle Leno and Kathryn Harrsion met with Gordon g MacPherson, Attorney (a long time friend) to brief him on our Reservation Plan status. We also met with Yamhill County Tribal council: Commissioners to update them with our Mark h-ercier, Chair progress. Rust Leno Kathryn, Merle and I met with Cooper Barrel Mercier Consultants to develop another approach to Euia petite i setting up talks with the timber industry people. We need to maintain a dialog with candy Robertson them in order to resolve questions and concerns. We need their understanding and hopefully their support. There seems to be concern over road maintenance or expansion on ; Highway 26 near Mt. Hood. I have received a series of calls from I individuals and groups regarding suspected archeologlcal sites in the area. I am still in contact and am watching the issue, but so far there is nothing conclusive to report.
