SMOKE SIGNALS Grand Ronde Newsletter COVER STORY; From Chairman, Mark Mercier I would like to use this space to inform you of the months activities in council, and bring to your attention important issues that now face the tribe. SecTreas Candy Fobert'aon Rusi teno 6arrel Mercier Eula Petite Henry Petite The Reservation Plan document has been finalized and submitted to the Department of the Interior on time (Nov. 22, 1985). Special thanks go to all members of Council, Cooper Consultants, Nelsen Witt (BIA), and other agency and Portland area staff too numerous to mention. I would like to note that Cheryle Kennedy has resigned her position as council to devote her time to the health program. She has served the tribe well as council, but it is difficult to be staff and council at the same time. Secretary-Treasurer, Kathryn Harrison has served as staff liasion and council on the Reservation Plan; she Is now serving only as council. Special thanks for her roll as staff and we look forward to her continued participation as Secretary-Treasurer of the councl 1 . Reservation Plan ! Even though the Plan, is submitted we have found that a great deal of continued work remains to be done before a bill is submitted to Congress. Kathryn Harrison, Sande Schmidt of NAPOLS, Dennis Petrequin of Cooper Consultants, and I met once again with the Tillamook County Commissioners to resolve their concerns raised regarding of the Reservation Plan.
