ENROLLMENT Dear Friends and Fellow Tribal Members: In the month of August, 117 applicants were approved for enrollment in our Tribe. Oongradulations to all the new members! I would like, once again, to explain what is needed to complete an applicants enrollment file. A completed enrollment application, along with birth documentation must be turned in to me. The birth document must show the date of birth and the natural parents names. I must have the names of the parents to trace descendancy to an enrolled member. If descendancy is being traced through the applicants mother, the birth record must contain her maiden name. If your birth record is faded or misspelled, do not write on it. Send it as it is! A seperate piece of paper may be submitted with the corrections on it. Any handwriting on the copy of the birth record will be considered an alteration. Altered birth documents will not be accepted. Those of you who are wondering why you haven't received an enroll ment number, or haven't heard from the enrollment office, please contact me. I've been very busy preparing files for the enrollment committee, and its been hard to try to contact every person whose enrollment files are incomplete. I stated last month, that I need current address's to be able to contact applicants. I've sent letters to many, stating what is needed to complete their file, only to have the letters returned. Each letter that I receive marked "undeliverable" or "forwarding order expired" is needlessly wasting the 22 postage, the cost of the envelope and the time it takes to prepare the letter. Please send in your current address if you haven't done so already. Here is a list of the people who's mail was returned this past month: Jeanice Hammett William Drum Jr. Harry D. Jeffers Gordon Williams Jessica Drum Albert E. Jeffers Pamela ELlingson Priscilla Scott Belden L. Jeffers If there are any questions that I can try to answer, please feel free to call me, or drop in at the depot tribal office. My hours are 8 am to 5 pm., Monday through Friday. We are closed from 12 noon to 1 pm. My phone number is (503) 879-5215. I'm here to serve you! To all interested persons that would like to make Shawls please let me know at the Tribal office or wite to Pat Gray, Smoke Signals, P.O. Box 38, Grand Ronde, OR 97347. The time and date will be announced at a later date. Sincerely, Margo George Enrollment Clerk Marco Georce 0 NOTICE:
