For his senior year J ’Von is attending Chemawa Indian School, and running with the Chemawa Boys Cross Coun try team. The team was runner-up in the PacWest District con ference; they were four points shy from b ein g d istric t champs. A fter districts were, the State Meets. The boys team had m ajor success, placing eighth. A t the same time they beat the PacWest District Win ning team by 5 points. J ’Von atten d e d M adras High School the year before, when his best 5k (3.1 mile) time was 19 minutes 26 sec onds. This year is personal best, was 17 minutes 42 sec onds— a whole minute and 45 seconds improvement, F or the state qualifying m eet there were 109 indi vidual runners. J ’Von placed fifty-fourth. Coach.; H o tc h was very proud o f this year’s progress for the boys team. “O ut o f all the years I ’ve coached this team was the m ost well-behaved and fun to coach,” he said. “J ’Von was a big part o f our success, and he will be missed next season. ” J ’Von is an excellent team leader on and o ff the running course. He continues to ex cel in academics, and is gradu ating this next spring with the Chemawa class o f 2014. J ’Von is the oldest o f five kids.
