Academy The Republic of Turkey this month gave generously toward the development of the Warm Springs k-8 Acad emy. Turkey’s Agency for Co operation and Collaboration contributed $200,000 for construction of a new water tower that will serve the new school when it opens next fall. Turkey’s am bassador, Namik Tan, and Serdar Cam, agency president of the pre sented the gift during a re ception last week in Wash ington, D.C. On hand to accept the grant were Chief Joe Moses, Tribal Councilman Orvie D anzuka, and business woman and education advo cate JoAnne Smith. Councilm an D anzuka found the experience very interesting, and began re searching the theory of the link between Turks and Na tive Americans. The Turkish delegation, he said, suggested that Warm Springs representatives visit Turkey. The Warm Springs team presented the ambassador Tan and agency president Cam with a Pendleton blan ket, and a hand drum featur ing a painting of three tee pees. Seniors bazaar at longhouse Warm Springs senior citizens will have a bazaar this Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Thanksgiving Powwow this Thursday, Friday The Tribal Council and com m unity will host the Thanksgiving Powwow this Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28 at the community cen ter. On Thursday, starting at 7 p.m, will be the Traditional Powwow. On Friday, also at 7 p.m., will be contest danc ing. Contest dancing divisions are: 7-11 year-olds; 12-17 Consignment Store Clown Dance contest. Ven dors are welcome and there is no vendor fee.
