Spilyay Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon Pgge 12 A u g u s t 7, 2013 THE CONFEDERATED TRIBES LANGUAGE LESSON “2013 Camp Naimuma” at Peters Pasture This is personal knowledge of one of our Youth Counselors When I was working with the kids they would love to go every which way. they love to drum and sing with Greg Arquette and when I would take them to go drum. They would want me to go with them sometimes I would wanna go swim but we always chose to go drum. We learned three songs called The Rain, Mighty Mouse and Indian Country, some of the other girls and I have stared our own drum group i find beats and make songs then we would get together to rehearse them, camp has taught me so much not ju st me but some of the kids in the community. Camp was a blast. A valued elder o f the Culture & heritage Department taught the campers how to make “ Mini Tule Mat Neck laces” A t the evening time camp fire, Greg Arquette taught campers about drumming on the big drum. Culture & Heritage Staff, Arlita Rhoan and Dallas Winishut offer class/knowledge to the campers Early Morning Campfire Family Tree introductions, Josie Blackwolf introduced family, Jason Allen, Wynema & Katrina Wolfe, and James Blackwolf, we all come from the Same Grandfather “Adwai Kanet Wolfe” and go back a few generations from the Yakama & Warm Springs Families Another valued Elder o f the Culture & heritage department talk about “ Cultural Values” __ „ foreground James Blackwolf and Nurse Mary Smith enjoy the early morning warmth of the campfire. Nurse Mary has been a part o f Camp Naimuma for many years. It ' will never go unnoticed the dedication and kind heart she has for our children. If anybody has any quetions please call our office 541-553-3290. we are still working with the University of Oregon Archivist Nathan . Gregarios on digiting reel to reel tapes that need to be digitzed. it is a slow prosses, but we only have so much people to work with. So when I’m not teaching ichishkin language, I’m helping with the achive work. The week July 17th thru 21st Gerald Danzuka and Greg Arquette were busy at Camp Naimuma, but i stayed back and worked on some old spiliyai issues, 49 of those older issues were digitized in 2007. 1995 thur 2003. They need be put in a megadata, form for our achive records.
